Our Ideas

My Ideas Mood Board

In my ideas mood board, it includes various genres, horror, comedy and action, and illustrates my ideas of what I would like to do if me and  my group chose that genre. This mood board also includes inspirational video clips of different films that inspired me for my ideas.

Our 2 final ideas

In class, our group came up with 2 final ideas to choose from. Our first idea was a romance comedy. It included a lot of match on action shots of a man and a woman getting ready in the morning and going to work. The man would have a suit on and a brief case, whereas the woman would have a young child an much more casual clothes. One of the shots that we visioned was the man brushing his teeth and the camera looking at him through the mirror, and then, as he put his head down to spit, there would be a match on action shot and the woman would appear. The strengths of this idea was thetis was very original as a rom-com is non common and if it was filmed successfully would be a very engaging and good piece. However, the weaknesses were that it would very hard to do with getting the camera angles matching exactly and also, it could seem quite cliche and predictable.

Our second idea was very different to the first with a genre of thriller. It included a man with a long axe walking in a very high class area. The audience would be unknown whether he was antagonist or protagonist. The shot that we visioned for this idea is a camera close up shot of his feet walking, and him carrying a long axe that he is swinging behind his feet. This would make the audience question whether he was a dangerous villain or perhaps a hero. The strengths of this idea was that it was much more realistic to shoot and would look very effective. However, the weaknesses of this idea was that we had no more ideas about the piece the than his feet walking.

Our final idea

After a lot of discussion in our group, we came up with our idea for our final opening title sequence. The setting will be in a dark old barn. At the beginning of the piece, there will be a close up shot of water dripping from the ceiling of the barn dripping into a puddle and then in the puddle there will be a reflection of our credits. Then there will be a close up of a spider web in the corner of the barn and down the beam which the spider web is on top of, there will be more credits. Next, there will be a close up of an old bucket with credits around it. Then there will be a close up, moving shot of our actress' feet walking. Her feet will be very dirty and she will have no shoes on. Behind her, she will be carrying a long axe that is swinging and as the axe swings credits will appear behind. This will make the audience wonder whether this character is an antagonist or protagonist. Next, there will be a point of view shot from the girl and she will swing the axe and there will be a loud sound effect as she is trying to get out of the barn by breaking down the door. Then, there will be a shot from another angle of the girl swinging the axe and breaking the door. Then, as the door opens, there will be a very bright light and a loud high sound effect as she will have been in darkness for a long time. Then there will be another point of view shot from the police's perspective as she was missing. They will be talking in their phones and will see the girl drop the axe and collapse on the floor. The final shot that we want to complete is a drone shot from above the girl to illustrate a helicopter with sound effects and have the title of the film on the ground next to the girl. This will be difficult to film but if it succeeds it will be very effective.
